Abstract
The article presents biographical materials on the life of one of the leading Russian Korean studies scholars, Evgeniy Evgen’yevich Kim (Kim En Un). The publication is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the scholar, a substantial part of whose professional career has been devoted to the study of the Korean Peninsula. The article examines the main stages of his academic, teaching, and expert activities, as well as his contribution to the study of the history, politics, economy, and culture of the Republic of Korea and the DPRK. Particular attention is paid to E.E. Kim’s participation in academic conferences, teaching at Russian universities, cooperation with Russian and foreign scholars, and his experience in public service, which enabled him to witness a number of important events and negotiations related to the Korean Peninsula. The article also analyzes the main scientific achievements of Kim En Un, including his publications in leading Russian academic journals.
